VATS Wine Bar
Established in 1973, Vats has been run by its present owners David & Carry Allcorn since 1985 is one of the few family driven central London eateries.
Whilst recognising and adapting to change, Vats remains very traditional in its offerings of food and wine. Living in East Sussex the proprietors are able to source a lot of their food locally such as prime wild venison from the Ashdown Forest & game birds such as pheasant, partridge and woodcock from the nearby Firle Estate Shoot when in season.
THE MENU, which changes in part every six weeks, features a good cross selection of 'Modern European' dishes backed up by some great 'English Classics' such as steak and kidney pudding, lambs liver with smoked bacon and mashed potatoes or the ubiquitous salmon and smoked haddock fishcake.
THE WINE LIST, featuring well in excess of 100 wines, is strong and global but reflects a passion for the good and great wines from France and Northern Europe where vineyards are visited regularly in order to meet producers and make selections for the cellar.
