Can We Play in Your Garden?

news

HV noticed that the famous tile "Can we PLAY in your garden when you close down our playground" has been removed from the wall next to the westbound bus stop on Theobalds Road by Grays Inn Road.

Perhaps the evident protest against swingeing cuts is no longer needed?  Or are the Old Etonian decision-makers responsible for cuts no longer in charge of the fiscal scissors?  Or is it as simple as someone cleaned the wall?

There's still the mark where the tile once was accusingly fixed, so either the cleaners missed a bit or the ceramic voice of objection is unwelcome. Luckily HV has retained photographic evidence. The effect of cuts on the young and vulnerable still matters - tile or no tile!

UPDATE: Cllr Fulbrook has explained to HV that the wall was recently cleaned to remove racist graffiti. The tile, we guess, was simply collateral - ironically much like the effects of the cuts.
