Camden Plan

news

The Camden Plan is the new five-year vision for Camden.

It's your money - tell the council what you want them to do with it.  No point in doing nothing now and then complaining when it's too late.

We want to make Camden a better borough - a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind.

The plan sets out clear ambitions and outcomes that Camden are planning to have achieved by 2017, with some proposed immediate next steps and longer-term plans on how the ambitions of the plan will be delivered.

Camden is clear that they cannot deliver the plan alone and that to achieve the ambitions for Camden they need to work with both the community and their partners. For this reason the plan is not a comprehensive list of what needs to be done; It sets out the destination and the starting point but much of the journey is still to be mapped out with others.

Camden want to hear from you:

The Camden plan sets out our destination and our starting point, but much of the journey is still to be mapped out with others. We know that meeting the challenges we all face in Camden needs more than just a plan from the Council. Residents, businesses and other organisations can, and many already do, make different contributions to achieving these ambitions.

Look at our five Camden plan themes and share your thoughts on our approach and your ideas about how we can achieve our ambitions.  You can comment on our overall approach to the plan at the bottom of this page.  We have asked some questions which we are particularly interested in hearing your views on. Let us know your views by Wednesday 18 July 2012.

We have developed five strategic objectives that will be our focus over the next five years acting as the framework for this reform.

Providing democratic and strategic leadership fit for changing times
Developing new solutions with partners to reduce inequality
Creating conditions for and harnessing the benefits of economic growth
Investing in our communities to ensure sustainable neighbourhoods
Delivering value for money services by getting it right first time

On the overall plan itself, we would particularly like to hear your views on:

The financial challenges we all face makes it more important for the Council to focus on reducing inequality and tackling disadvantage in the borough although this won't always involve the cheapest option. What do you think of our approach?

We can't face all of the challenges we have identified alone. There is a vital role for local organisations and people and we have tried to express that within this plan. We know that this is not the end of a process and the questions we pose within this document look to open up the debate to everyone who has a stake in the future of Camden. We want your views but beyond that, are there specific things that you could do to realise our ambitions? What could the Council do to help local people, groups and businesses take action?

Do you work for or represent an organisation in Camden? Do the priorities we've outlined in this plan meet with your work and objectives?
