A photographic exhibition by Abdul Chowdry curated by local resident Maisie Rowe.
Camden Square Community Playcentre was a staffed open-access playgound located on Murray Street NW1. It was in operation from the early 1970s until it was closed in the mid-1980s. After that, it was empty for several years and was eventually reopened as an after-school playscheme that could be accessed only by subscription.
The exhibition freatures photographs taken by playleader Abdul Chowdry in 1978 and 1979 in the Square and on camp. He developed the negatives in a darkroom he set up in the Square's shipping container hut. Many of his pictures have never been printed before. The present a vivid 'moment in time', fragment of Camden’s history.
Vist the exhibition in the lobby of The Holborn Library, Theobalds Road.
