Be a smarter driver and save around 15% on fuel.
Camden are offering free training for a limited number of local businesses and residents. This training takes 1 hour from a central London location - a car is provided. To be eligible, you need to have held a driving licence for at least 12 months.
To register your interest, contact Camden's air quality team
Please check back on the website for confirmation of dates.
Smarter driving tips:
Check your tyres: Keeping your tyres at the right pressure saves up to a tank of fuel per year
Ride the green wave: Slow-and-go is better than stop-and-go. Accelerate and decelerate smoothly.
Remove excess baggage: Every extra 15kg reduces fuel economy by 1%. If you don't need it, leave it out.
Reduce your top speed: Slowing from 70mph to 60mph saves you the equivalent of 10p per litre on fuel.
Check your revs: Change up a gear at 2,000rpm in a diesel car, or 2,500rpm in a petrol car.
Use air-con sparingly: Air-con increases fuel costs by 20-40%. Why not open the windows at lower speeds?
Get your car serviced regularly: Having your car serviced regularly will make sure it runs efficiently, saves fuel and does not pollute the air as much
Turn off engine when not in use: Reduce wastage by not leaving your engine running when you are parked or when the car is stationary.
Try not to use your car for short trips: Only use your car when it is really necessary. Cold engines produce much more pollution, so think about using public transport, cycling or walking for short journeys.
