Egypt Exploration Society

Description

The Egypt Exploration Society is the leading UK organisation carrying out archaeological fieldwork and research in Egypt today. The Society's current research strategy focuses on landscape development, environmental change and human interaction in the Nile Delta and Valley, including the Sudan. The current fieldwork projects range from excavation at major Delta sites and surveying the ancient capital of Memphis, to mapping the changing river course at ancient Thebes. The Society works closely with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and is currently engaging with international partners to support and fund excavations and surveys at many other sites. The EES is headed by a President and several Vice-Presidents and is governed by a Board of Trustees which includes the three Officers of the Society: the Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer. The Society's registered address is 3 Doughty Mews, London WC1N 2PG although we actually own three adjoining Mews properties - 2-4 Doughty Mews. The premises house the Society's Offices, Library and Archive and are manned by three permanent staff. We also have small office in Cairo housed on the premises of the British Council and staffed by the Society's Cairo Representative.
