Almost hidden away in the shadow of the giant Mount Pleasant sorting office is the British Postal Museum Search Room. Pass through the security doors and you'll find a fascinating a resource and exhibition.
The current exhibition is of treasures from the museum's collection: from a pistol carried by a Mail Coach Guard in the 1860's to a bag of evidence from the Great Train Robbery of 1963. Special highlights include the one of the only complete sheets of Penny Blacks in the world, and the old original die from 1840 from which all Penny Blacks and Penny Reds were made.
There's also unique material celebrating the centenary of the creation of world's first Arial Post from Hendon to Windsor as part of the celebrations for the coronation of King George V.
