Remember All Who've Lost Their Lives on London's Roads

A message from the London Cycling Campaign:

Next Tuesday, outside Kings Cross station, there's a chance for all Londoners to gather to remember everyone who's died on our roads this year.

As the festive season approaches we all look forward to enjoying the company of families and friends. Yet this year there'll be over 100 families who'll be without a loved one because they've been killed on London's roads (on foot, bicycle, motorbike or car).

2011 has been a particularly bad year for cyclist fatalities, with 16 losing their lives on the capital's streets. While the vast majority of Londoners who cycle experience no harm, every death is one too many

On Tuesday we'll be calling on the Mayor to put our safety above traffic flow, and asking why cyclists in London are twice as likely to be killed on our streets than they are in the cycle-friendly countries like the Netherlands'

Why are London cyclists twice as likely to die on the road as Dutch cylists
