Join Ralph Metzner, an authority and key player in the birth and re-birth of psychedelics for a fascinating talk Expansions of Consciousness. On the same evening, this event will be followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary film, The Substance, Albert Hofmann's LSD (93min), by Martin Witz.  

Both events can be booked separately or together.

Ralph is stopping at the gallery on his way to speak at Breaking Convention, a multidisciplinary conference on psychedelic consciousness taking place at the University of Greenwich in London from Friday 12 July - Saturday 14 July 2013

Metzner will discuss his more than 50 years of research with psychedelics in relation to expansions of consciousness in psychotherapy, healing and creativity. He will present insights from his research on MDMA experiences, described in Through the Gateway of the Heart; discuss the historical significance of alchemy and the cultural transformations of the 1960s, which he describes in his book The Expansion of Consciousness; and explore the applications and potentials of psychedelics in psychotherapy, healing and the understanding of consciousness, as discussed in his book MindSpace and Timestream.

About Ralph Metzner, Ph.D.

Metzner is a psychotherapist, workshop leader and professor emeritus at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He collaborated with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert in the Harvard University studies of psychedelic drugs in the 1960s, and co-authored The Psychedelic Experience. His books include The Well of Remembrance, The Unfolding Self, Green Psychology and, co-authored with Ram Dass, the recently published Birth of a Psychedelic Culture.

He realizes that he is dealing with a powerful molecule that will have an impact not only on the scientific world, but also on the lives of millions of people around the world. THE SUBSTANCE is an investigation into our troubled relation with LSD, told from its beginnings until today. This intriguing film was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize “Quartz 2012” as Best Documentary, won the Audience Award at the 17th Berlin & Beyond Film Festival: the Audacity Prize at Pariscience 2012 and the Special Jury Prize, at 360Ëš Contemporary Science Film Festival, Moscow. The film and wine will be available for sale.
