Holborn - Residents, Rascals and Riots - with Jo

Meet eccentrics, inventors, writers and ordinary people on this walk through Holborn.
We will visit some well-known areas and some less known ones and find out about the colourful characters whose lives, work and in some cases, crimes have shaped this area. London's Burning – A City Transformed with Jo

Sunday 21st May at 11am

This is one of the regular walks which official City of London guides take turns at leading.

It explores the many times that London has faced destruction, only to rise again from the ashes.

There is no need to book. Meet outside the City of London Visitors' Information Centre, EC4M 8BX (southside of St Paul's Cathedral) and pay on the day. £7 adults / £6 concessions.

 

Fund Raising Walks for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust

Thursday 25th May at 3pm and 4:30pm

Lansdown's London is joining forces with many fellow London tour guides as part of 20in20. This is an event which aims to raise £20,000 for the MS Trust in 20 hours by  offering a continous programme of over 45 guided walks / tours throughout one day.  Visit www.20in20.london for the full programme.

 

20in20 - Foundling Museum Tour at 11am with Jo

The Foundling Museum tells the amazing story of The Foundling Hosptal established in 1739 by Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment and celebrates how the contributions of artists such as William Hogarth and Handel have contributed to the ongoing success of the charity that still bears the Coram name. You will be in expert hands with Jo who is an accredited Foundling Museum guide.

Clocks and Crusaders, Gin and Jerusalem, Huguenots, Radicals and Criminals.

Find out about Clerkenwell's history as a global centre for gin and clock making, a bomb outrage at the Clerkenwell House of Detention and a tragic family murder.

Bloomsbury has many close assiciations with children and young people, in both fact and fiction. The Angel, Islington – A Watery Walk with Karen

The New River, The Regent's Canal and Spas for the taking of health-giving waters have all played a key role in shaping this part of Islington. 50 Shades of Gray’s Inn Road with Jo

Explore this fascinating area, which is far from grey! From explosions and epidemics to gardens and graves you will be amazed at the variety of things that have happened along just one London street. Meet doctors and dentists, lawyers and ladies of the night - and even a cross dresser. (And despite the title, you can safely bring your granny along!)
