Holborn - 50 Shades of Gray’s Inn Road

Islington Pride – 50 Years of LGBT History

Saturday 4th March at 2pm

Islington has a long history of campaigning for LGBT equality. Starting at the Islington Museum this walk covers a large number of significant Islington "firsts" such as the UK's first gay mayor, MP , march and demonstration as well as local characters including Joe Orton and the extraordinary Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

The walk has been designed in partnership with Islington Museum to tie-in with their current Islington's Pride exhibition. City of London – A Watery Walk

Follow the River Thames as it flows alongside the City of London from Blackfriars to Tower Bridge.

As well as providing some stunning iconic views, this watery walk encompasses many aspects of the City's long history. The Angel, Islington – A Watery Walk

The New River, The Regent's Canal and Spas for the taking of health-giving waters have all played a key role in shaping this part of Islington. Holborn - Residents, Rascals and Riots

Meet eccentrics, inventors, writers and ordinary people on this walk through Holborn.
We will visit some well-known areas and some less known ones and find out about the colourful characters whose lives, work and in some cases, crimes have shaped this area. London's Burning – A City Transformed

Thursday 27th April at 2pm and Sunday 30th April at 11am

This is one of the regular walks which official City of London guides take turns at leading.

It explores the many times that London has faced destruction, only to rise again from the ashes.

There is no need to book. Meet outside the City of London Visitors' Information Centre, EC4M 8BX (southside of St Paul's Cathedral) and pay on the day. £7 adults / £6 concessions.

 

The City of London – Literary Greats

Explore the streets, alleyways and churches of the City and their links to literature. Meet poets and writers who lived and worked in the City and their creations. From the author of some of the most erotic love poetry in the English language (who became Dean of St Paul's) to a Noble Prize winner who worked in one of the City's banks.
