Holborn - Residents, Rascals and Riots

Saturday 10th March 2018 at 11am

Meet eccentrics, inventors, writers, rogues and other local Holborn residents, including the unscrupulous property developer, the cross-dressing spy and the inventor of a lethal weapon and a fairground ride. Hear about robberies and riots and the trouble with a horse's rear end. Walk down some well known streets and some you might not have seen before and hear some surprising stories about the colourful characters whose lives, work and in some cases, crimes have shaped this area. Prepare to be shocked by some very bad behaviour indeed.

Lost & Found – Bloomsbury

Thursday 12th April 2018 at 11am

An extra child-friendly version of this popular walk requested by The Friends of the Geffrye Museum to coincide with half-term. Discover Bloomsbury's many close associations with children and young people including Peter Pan and his lost boys, Captain Coram and his foundlings and a building that inspired a much loved toy.  The walk ends with a chance for kids to let off steam at Coram's Fields playground and also includes a quiz sheet. You don't have to be a Friend of the Geffrye to book.

Made in Clerkenwell

Sunday 22nd April 2018 at 11am

Explore narrow streets and alleys to discover a rich history of gin and beer making, radical printing and the workshops of the Huguenot craftsmen, who helped turn the area into a global centre for clock making. See some of the historic buildings that contemporary craftspeople and designers have colonised, to make Clerkenwell home to more creative businesses per square mile than anywhere else on the planet.
