Digging up the Past

events

Saturday, 16 April 2011 - Thursday, 21 April 2011
The site at Brill Place is currently being prepared for the construction of UKCMRI, but before building work starts, Museum of London archaeologists will be excavating the site. They want to delve into the past by recovering any items of historical value before construction starts.
At this stage it's not known exactly what the archaelogists will unearth. They are concentrating their search in areas where the milk and fish shed and coal depot of the Somers Town Goods Yard were located.

If you are interested in finding out more, you can visit the dig to see what has been recovered and learn about the history of the site.

There will be free tours on the following days at 9am, 10.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm:

Saturday 16th April
Monday 18th April
Tuesday 19th April
Wednesday 20th April
Thursday 21st April

Each tour will last approximately one hour with plenty of time to ask questions. Please come along to the UKCMRI exhibition on Brill Place at these times to be shown around the excavation. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult if under 16. There will also be an opportunity for children to do some digging themselves!

If you have any questions please contact us on 0800 028 9731 or email info@ukcmri.ac.uk
