Friday: 7.30 -8.45pm + Saturday Matinee: 2pm -3.15
The Courtyard Theatre, Pitfield Street, Hoxton.
You are cordially invited to a historical meeting by Professor Gary Cranks who will enthral us with the details from his latest discovery found hidden in the depths of the Camden Catacombs'. However the meeting takes a turn for the worse…
Discover the darker side to Camden's past as we present a plethora of formidable characters, such as Mary Shelley, the Highgate Vampire, Old Mother Red Cap and Dr Crippen, in an ingenious dramatisation of their life stories.
The show, cleverly blending 90% fact and 10% fiction, promises to uncover many of Camden's formidable characters.
Ian Shillito, director and producer says: 'Many of London's boroughs have a fascinating history and a whole host of hidden historical gems, stories and characters - albeit somewhat over shadowed by Jack the Ripper, the London Dungeon, Sweeny Todd and The Tower of London.
My company's role is to simply bring to light and unite those lesser known, yet captivating stories with our boroughs, education, heritage and community groups. Upon researching this project, I was excited to discover that Camden, has so many infamous historical figures to bring to life.
The aim of these projects is not only to entertain, but also to enlighten audiences with an insight into the past and our social history.'
This unique performance was originally performed at Camden Archives and Local Studies Centre in order to highlight the threat of cuts and closures of our Library services.
Price: £12 ( £10 concessions)
Please Note: This event is not suitable for under 16's
