To mark the International Year of Light 2015, and Bloomsbury’s historical and current role as a centre of enlightenment & illumination of all kinds, LIGHT has been chosen as the theme of the 2015 Festival.
4 Days of Creativity and Ideas Inspired by Light
The Bloomsbury Festival is a hugely popular landmark in London’s autumn diary, an explosion of arts, culture and fun throughout the streets, parks, museums, galleries and public and (normally) private buildings of this vibrant cultural quarter.
A hot bed of creativity, the Festival unites world-leading institutions, cultural centres, ground-breaking scientists, established and emerging artists, and the people of Bloomsbury. With over 130 events attracting circa 35,000 people, and connecting Bloomsbury’s diverse community, some of the 2015 Festival highlights include:
• Light Up Store Street launch event
• Famous London streets and landmarks taken over by performance, talks, installations, street food and craft stalls
• Critically acclaimed artists and writers including Siri Hustvedt, the RSC, ENO, RADA, John Hegley and Sarah Pascoe
• Integrated community outreach projects
• Museums, galleries, music and theatre
• Quirky and intriguing adventures and buildings
• Fun and festivities for all!
More news on the festival will be posted as plans develop – watch this space!!
