Camden and Islington Air Quality Summit II
at Islington Town Hall
Come along and share your ideas on how we can protect our health from the effects of air pollution.
We will hear from public health and air quality experts as well as the local NHS at the summit. Speakers will include Julie Billett, Director of Public Health in Camden and Islington.
Residents and businesses, community groups and schools are all welcome to attend.
Local Air Quality in Camden and Islington continues to exceed binding National and EU Limits for the pollutants nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM).
The health impacts of exposure to poor air quality are well documented. It was estimated that in 2008 there were 207 deaths across Camden and Islington attributable to exposure to PM2.5.
Following the successful Air Quality Summit in November 2011, Camden & Islington will host a follow up summit in partnership with Camden and Islington Public Health on 17 October 2013 at Islington Town Hall.
Come and hear about what progress has been made towards improving local air quality over the past 2 years, and the continuing burden on health from an NHS perspective, as well as hearing about some innovative ideas and case studies on how to reduce air pollution and improve quality of life for everyone.
We welcome residents and businesses to attend and share their thoughts and concerns, and join in a discussion about what further action we can all take to improve health by reducing emissions and our personal exposure to poor air quality.
