In the course of three apocalyptic days in September 1666 The Great Fire of London destroyed 80% of the buildings within the old City walls.
This guided walk starts where the fire's most famous chronicler, Samuel Pepys, lived and worked and then follows the course of the fire from its outbreak in Pudding Lane, along the Thames and northwards to its terrifying climax at St Paul's Cathedral.
Discover how Londoners coped without a fire service, hear about the heroic and less heroic actions by key figures of the day and find out what became of the 70,000 people that the fire made homeless.
The walk is led by Karen Lansdown, an official City of London Guide.
