FREE SNOW SHOVELS

news

Here's an opportunity for too many jokes - all of them either political or in bad taste.  I'll spare you as I'm sure you can easily make up your own...

A message from Camden:

Camden Council is offering 1,000 new shovels to help local community groups in the borough clear snow from footpaths over the winter. We'll still be doing all we can to keep major roads and footpaths clear, but your help at a local level will really help us to keep Camden moving.  The shovels are completely free of charge and are available to groups such as tenant and resident associations, volunteer groups and local business groups.

Shovels are available to be picked up in person from the Arlington Road depot, 211 Arlington Road, London NW1 7HD. You can get them from 8am to 3:45pm from Monday to Friday.  You will need to leave your contact details and information on where the shovels will be used.

A maximum of four shovels per group is allowed. If groups need more than four then they will need to contact environmental services on 020 7974 4444. Shovels can be kept but unfortunately can't be replaced if lost or damaged.

The shovels will be yours to keep for use in your local area. We'll also provide information on where our grit bins are located, tips on how to clear snow safely, alongside legal advice from the government. Unfortunately we'll be unable to replace any lost or damaged shovels.

You can find out more about our plans for keeping Camden up and running this winter online at camden.gov.uk/winter.
